How to get to Punta Marenco ?

Punta Marenco is only accessible by boat from Sierpe (1 hour) or Drake Bay (15 minutes) or walking from Drake Bay (1 hour), there are no roads to Punta Marenco that is why our location is so special.

By Bus :
There are buses going every day from San Jose to Palmar Norte, Palmar is a small town located 10 minutes away from Sierpe, Sierpe is were you take the boat for a little more than one hour to Punta Marenco, The town of Palmar is divided by the Terraba river the longest river in Costa Rica, the Bus station is located at Palmar Norte and the airport at Palmar Sur at the other side of the river. if you arrive by bus or airplane to Palmar we will send a taxi driver to pick you up and take you to Sierpe. there are two boats that leave from Sierpe to the lodge one at 11:30 am and one at 3 pm, in order to make the 11:30 am boat you must take the 5 am bus from San Jose and not leave San Jose later than 8 am to make the 3 pm boat, there is a company call TRACOPA which offers the bus service to Palmar, if the client wants to travel by bus we will even help you get the bus tickets and deliver them to your hotel.

Transportation from San Jose :

By private van:
There is a service From San Jose to Sierpe which arrives in Sierpe before the 11:30 am boat, normally this vans accommodate no more than 9 persons.

By plane:
This is the most expensive way, there are two airlines Sansa (www.flysansa.com) and Nature air (www.natureair.com), both travel to Palmar or Drake Bay, the only difference is that Drake Bay has many more flights a day and Palmar only one, all schedule times works for us, we will pick you up or take you to take your flight.
In the past people traveling to Drake Bay use to go to Palmar because the Drake Bay airport was in very bad shape, now the Drake Bay Airport have been renew and is in perfect condition, but now people still go to Palmar because the dont want to miss the ride in the magnificent Sierpe River
